QUESTION OF SITE.

Bush) having submitted to the Works Committee sketch plans of the Coroner's Court ind morgue, estimated to cost £1600 or £1800, to be built on the proposed site it the Freeman's Bay reclamation, the tommitlee recommended that the plans be approved and submitted to the district jealth officer for his approval of the site vnd buildings, in terms of the Public Health Act, and that the adjoining boroughs be called upon to contribute their proportionate shares of the cost. Mr. Mack ay said that it was now proposed that the Hospital Board should allow the morgue to be placed in the hospital grounds, which were almost in the commercial centre of the city. It would be a very convenient place, and there 'would be an advantage from a scientific point of view. -'It was an erroneous idea that nearly all the bodies requiring to go into a morgue come from the waterfront. He moved that the Works Committee enter into communication with the Auckland Hospital Board, with a viewto having the morgue placed in the hospital grounds. The motion was carried. The Mayor stated that the plans had "already been circulated among the contributing local bodies.
