CARPENTERS AND JOINERS.
THE WELLINGTON DISPUTE,
[by TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Tuesday. Though the Council of Conciliation has been sitting for two days and a-half in an endeavour to settle the dispute between the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners and the employers throughout the district, finality has not yet been reached. The Council sat at the Supreme Court again to-day, Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, presiding. = The question of hours, wages, and preference was discussed, the chief difficulty being in connection with wages. No decision could be arrived at, though it :is stated ; that not more than a halfpenny per hour divided the parties. The Council thereupon adjourned until February 7, before which time there are hopes that a definite settlement may be come to.' '■■■■■ . ;
