PICNICS.
Tim Auckland branch of Messrs. Ross and Glendining, Limited, held their annual picnic at Motutapu on Saturday. The s.s. Kestrel, chartered for the trip, got away about nine o'clock. Tho big company aboard, including many friends of the firm's staff, found tho run down pass quickly and enjoyably to tho accompaniment of excellent music and elocution unearthed from the company, under tho capable guidance of Mr. Hosking. At (lie island the picnickers entered vigorously into the sport of the day, and, aided by the ideal surroundings, made the function a brilliant success. The sports programme was carried through with zest. Tho officials wero Messrs. Evans, Forbes, and Talbot, Tho return concert was a capping touch to this gala day, and here Mr. Sneddon, manager, in a felicitous speech, thanked all who so ably assisted in contributing to tho remarking that the talent displayed by the members of the staff was exceptionally good. Before leaving Motutapu tho visitors gave three hearty cheers for Mrs. Roid for so l kindly placing the jpicnic-ground at their disposal.
