)■: - CART FALLS INTO THE MUD. [by TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.} Thames, Thursday. A horse attached to. a spring cart, belonging to Mr. J. Hawkes, bached over the edge of the Thames Wharf to-day. Fortunately, the tide was low at the time and the vehicle landed in the mud, the driver, Thomas Grogan, being caught underneath. and held fast. Assistance was quickly at hand, and he was promptly rescued from his perilous position before being smothered by the mud in which he was lying. He was conveyed to the hospital, where he is now in a fair way to recovery. The horse could not be released in time to cave its life, and was suffocated. •' ■
