[ • Wellington, Thursday. • Questioned as to the various reports con- > cerning new steamers under order for the 1 New Zealand Shipping Company, Mr. J. > H. N. A. Burnes, local manager, stated to a New Zealand Times reporter that at : present the company has two steamers building. One is to be an improved Ruahine. This vessel will be a twinscrew passenger boat of 13,000 tons gross, which is upwards "of 1000 tons larger than the Ruahine. Messrs. Wm. Denny Brothers, of Dumbarton, builders of the Ruahine, have received the order for this new passenger boat, which is to be delivered about. next May. Th© company have also just ordered a huge twin-screw cargo steamer, to be built by Messrs. Russell and Co., Port Glasgow. This vessel .is to be of about 13,000 tons gross, and 495 ft in length. Delivery is to be given about next July, and this vessel will rival in size any steamer, " cargo or passenger, at- present trading to New Zealand.
