NAVAL STRENGTH.
MAINTAINING SUPREMACY. By Telegraph.— Association.— Copyright. London, October 3. Mr. Asquith has written to Lord Charles Beresford that the Government is fully alive to the paramount importance of the maintenance of naval supremacy, and will not hesitate to recommend to Parliament any necessary steps. CONTINENTAL ACTIVITY. "CAN TRUST THE ADMIRALTY." Sydney, October 4. Admiral Henderson, who is visiting Australia at the invitation of the Federal Government, says that Australia is taking the right course regarding military defence. Discussing Continental shipbuilding activity, he said :— " We can safely trust the Admiralty. I have every confidence in their judgment." . Regarding the use of. aeroplanes in war, he did not think they were going to be the terrible machines most people thought, but they would be valuable for observation purposes.
