THE GOLD RETURNS. TOTAL FOR APRIL, £177,812. The returns reported-from the gold mines , in the Auckland district during the month of April reached the grand total of £177,812 18s lOd- This, when "compared ■< with 5 the ; yield '"the previous month, viz., £108*203 2s, irepresents the substantial increase of £69,609 16s 10d,' but this is largely'accounted, for in' the fact that it includes "double returns , from ■ the Waihi , and : Waihi Grand - Junction mines. As compared with the total for April, 1909, however,' when two returns were reported from the Waihi mine, the yield for the I past r month shows \an : increase'' of £746: 6s lid, and this would,' no doubt,, have been much greater but for j the >f act that during the past month the Waihi Company's mills were !■ stoppod for ' two days .16 ; hours, on account of the. flood, and, therefore, treated a lesser quantity of ore. flt is gratifying to learn, notwithstanding the circumstance just mentioned, that, the pastmonth's total is the.
