OTAHUHU CLUB'S : NEW COURTS. ■Th* ceremony in - connection ■ with the opening of the Lawn Tennis Club's new courts took place on Saturday. 'A large number of visitors were present, among whom was Mr. F. \V. Lang, M. P. Representatives' from Onehunga, Ellcrslie, Papa.toetoe, and other club* were also present, as well as the members of the Ot*huhu Bowling Clu\> and the ladies of the Croquet Club. Mr. H. J. Hall (president of the club) grave a brief history of the progress of the olub since its-inception ilxmf. four years-ago. The increase of membership necessitating the provision of more courts, a strip vi land adjoining the original courts was acquired, and the club has now six courts available for play. At the request of the president Mrs. Hall drove the first ball across the courts, which were then declared open for play. Before the close of the proceedings the prir.es won by Miss A. Wilson and R. Fallwe'.l for the handicap singles tompfltition were presented. .... Afternoon tea was provided by the. bachelors of the club. The courts were in good order for play. A liberal display of bunting was made from the club's pavilion and the boundaries of the lawns.
