AUCKLAND WOOL CLIP
NEXT TUESDAY'S SALE.
GOOD PRICES ANTICIPATED.
The third wool sale of the 1909-10 series is to be held in the Chamber of Commerce buildings, Auckland, on Tuesday next. There will probably be no more than 1000 bales in the catalogue on this occasion, because of the rushing forward of as much of the clip as could be lifted in time for the November and January sales, in order that growers might participate in the tempting prices then ruling. Farmers evidently preferred to follow the principle of a bird in the hand "being worth, two in the bush, notwithstanding generally favourable predictions of good prices throughout the season. At the same time the listing is never very big for the February sales, which are regarded more or less in the light of an end-of-season clearing up. A feature of the offerings for Tuesday's auctions is the large proportion of lambs' wool which is included. A few of the forwardings already in store range up to 20 and 30-bale lots, but there is the usual preponderance of short lots from smaller holdings. The catalogues, will also include a good deal of the back country clip,- which could not be got forward earlier in the season. The wool is, of course, heavier in grease at this time of the year. Prospects for prices are good, in view of the buoyant condition of the London market, and of the fact that the English, American, and Continental demand appears to be in excess of the supply. A full bench of visiting buyers is expected, and several local firms also intend entering into competition.
