KARANGAHAPiq ROAD BLAZE. LINEN SHOP GUTTED. A fere broke out last night in a shop in Karangahape Road, owned by Mr. James Eastwood, oi Panmure, and occupied by , Mr. Harris Donjon, trading as the Belfast Linen Company. ,The outbreak was first noticed by a volunteer, named E. Tricker, who was pasI sing the shop about 9.30 .p.m. He , saw I flames issuing from behind the counter, j and at once gave the alarm. The City ; Fire Brigade was soon on the scene, and extinguished the flames, but not before the shop Was gutted. The stock, which mostly consisted of linen goods, was ruined by fire and water. The origin of the outbreak is unknown. Mr. Charles - Thompson, the manager for the Belfast Linen - Company, left the shop at'eight p.m., everything then being perfectly safe. . : • The stock is insured in the Australian Alliance Assurance Company for £575, and the furniture and fittings in the same office for £25. Mr. Dorson estimates his loss at £70 over and above the insurance. FIRE AT BLENHEIM.
