Parker and Co., engineers, of Quay-street, hav® lidded to their already large business trat of an acetyleno gas lighting establishment, and have opened an attractive showroom at 41, Victoria-street West (opposite the Royal Hotel). Here there is a fine collection of acetylene generators and all acetylene apparatus. Tho firm have acquired the patents for tho "Transcendent" generator for the Auckland province from tho patentee (Mr. Murray). It is of tho latest design, and has many obvious advantages over all other makes, notably, in the carbide trays, which have square compartments, with straight sides, and are so arranged that tho carbide in one compartment must bo exhausted before tho water could come into contact with the next one, hone© over-goncration bccomes impossible. The trays aro easily cloanod, there being no curves to retain the residuo when refilling. This generator has 110 taps to manipulate when recharging, and all tho working parts are on tho outside, so that the plant can always bo attended to without dismantling. The " Transcendent" is also provided with a water-weight, which gives tho desired pressure at tho gas burners. Great attention has been given to tho cooling and cleansing of tho gas before it is delivered to the mains, thus ensuring a most perfect light, quite free from all impurities. Messrs. Parker also stock a very large assortment of acetylene gas burners, including tho "Etta," " Luta,"' "Perfection," and - tho "Transcendent" (a new acetylene burner of great brilliancy, and almost, indestructible).
