TAURANGA FIRES.
[BY TKLIWRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tauranga, Tuesday. At the inquiry into the circumstances in connection with the fire which occurred in the retort-house at the gasworks . on Sunday morning, 12th inst., a verdict to the effect that the coal became ignited through being stored in too close proximity to the retorts was returned. At the inquiry held this morning before Mr. T. E. Price (Coroner) into the fire which destroyed the Greerton schoolhouse, an open verdict wa« returned, there being. no evidence to show how the fire occurred.
