Wellington, Sunday. Several applications for letters patent in connection with flax manufacture appear in the current Gazette. Mr. A Kale (Pal- , merston North) has a patent for a flax blade catcher,-Mr. A. Ross (Foxton) for carrying apparatus, . Messrs. J. McSweeny and L. Miller (Te Awamutu) for a flax catcher, R. McGaffih (Hastings) for drain clearer, vegetable loader, flax washer, and shaker, K. J. Sutherland (Longbush) scutcher concave, and A. J. Whiteside (Raupo), flax handling apparatus. Aeroplanists are to be found amongst the host of local inventors. Mr. M. S. Ramsay (Auckland) has applied for letters patent for an aeroplane, and Mr. J. A. King, of the same city, has followed suit, while Mr. J. H. Gill, of Dunedin, is patenting a flying machine.
