'? In the Tairua Golden Hills mine good progress continues to bo made with the.low level crosscut, 30ft having been driven during the past week. The country is of a more blocky nature/ but is otherwise unchanged, i Should the downward trend of No. 1 reef from No, 3 level have but little underlie, as" indicated from the winze sunk from the latter level; the major portion of the-low level, driven 613 ft, can now bo considered, completed. Above No. 3 level stoping is in progress with a limited number of men, the ore broken being of a remunerative character- As soon as crushing commences a large staff of men will be employed in the blocks above No. 3 and No. 2 levels, now available for stoning operation's. In the south drive 10 men only arc employed, rendering progress slow. The footwall of the lode looks promising. *
