GRAFTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the Grafton School Committee was held last evening, Mr. .1. Burton (chairman) presiding. There were also present: Messrs. C. Layers, R. T. Michaels, W. Jaffrey, C. Rose, G. Martin, and the secretary (.Mr. F. J. Kenderdine).' The headmaster's monthly report was read, and stated that the attendance was keeping up very well, the average for October being 645, notwithstanding the wet weather. Mr. Petrie's report upon the school wan an follows :Compulsory subjects : The general work was of good quality, Oral composition and oral answering were for the most part of a creditable character. Arithmetic in Standard 11. was fair and satisfactory in Standard V Additional subjects: Very satisfactory. Order and discipline: Very good. . Efficiency of the school: A highly-efficient school. The headmaster's influence makes itself felt throughout. The secretary of the Education Board reported that £30 15s 6d had been paid in to the credit of the School Committee. It was decided to request the Education Board to supply the committee with a water meter. It was resolved that the chairman and several members of the committee visit the Drill Shed Title range with the object of seeing, what can be done in the matter of a miniature rifle range at the school.
