Sir Wilfrid Laurier defended the Government's action. - • (Received November 9, 10.45 p.m.) London, November 9. 7 The Ottawa correspondent of the Times points out that many powerful parties in Canada prefer a direct contribution to the Admiralty to the local navy scheme, though he admits that the balance of opinion in Canada may not be on this side.
