AUCKLAND RAILWAY STATION.

"NOTHING FURTHER" AT PRESENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.} Wellington, Wednesday. The Minister for Railways was asked by Mr. Glover whether the plans and specifications have been prepared in connection with the erection of the new railway station at Auckland, and when tenders will be called for the building. Mr. Millar, in replying, said: " Before plans and specifications can be prepared for the erection of a new railway station at Auckland a large amount of rearrangement of the railway yard requires to be done, and it is considered to be inadvisable to proceed with the erection of a large and important station such as Auckland until such time as the whole of the preliminary works, which are now being carried out, have been completed. A very considerable sum has been spent during the last two or three years in making alterations to the Auckland station yard, and nothing further can be done in the meantime. It is not, however, the intention to delay the preparation of the plans any longer than is essential for the purpose of seeing what plans can best be adopted, having regard to the requirements of the prospective business."
