KING COUNTRY LICENSES.

MR. LAURENSON'S BILL. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. In the House of Representatives this evening Mr. Laurenson said that, .is the Prime Minister had stated that the Government would introduce, this session, legislation amending the Licensing Act, in as far as the King Country was concerned, he would, at the request of the New Zealand Alliance, ask leave of the House .to withdraw his measure dealing with the same subject. He also recognised the fact that any Bill introduced by a private member had a .much, more precarious chance of passing through Parliament than a Government measure.
