DAIRYING IN AUCKLAND.

AN ABUNDANT SEASON.

LARGELY INCREASED PRODUCTION.

The abundance of the present dairying season is illustrated by figures furnished by Mr. W. Spragg, managing director of the New Zealand Dairy Association, yesterday. Mr. Spragg said; that the increase to date for the Auckland province was 25 to 33$ per cent, over the corresponding period of last year. It was too early yet to forecast what the total production of the Dominion would be as compared with the previous season, because the conditions last season.were good throughout, so favourable, indeed, that one had hesitation in anticipating their recurrence. Part of the increase 'in production was due to new country "being taken un, and "unless there was some unforeseen check the production of the Auckland province would be doubled in from four to six years, according to circumstances. •

Speaking on other phases of the industry, •Mr. -Spragg said that, up ,to the present the English price had been good, and though latest reports indicated a reduction, this might only be temporary." The local market had,' of course, very little effect on prices. The local price had been reduced in sympathy with the English market, and was now per lb wholesale for standard brands. The quality of the output was satisfactory. There had been less trouble with faulty milk than in previous seasons', a result due to cleaner herbage, and more care, in handling the milk.
