SUICIDE AT WHANGAREI.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] Wuangarei, Tuesday. Sydney Beaumont, a second-hand dealer, committed suicide about four o'clock this afternoon. He .had said good-bye to his children -and sent them, up. to the post office. ~ One of them, however, did not go. He states that he heard a revolver report, and fearing something was wrong, went into the street, crying. A passer-by asked him what was the matter, and he replied, "Father has shot himself." The police were communicated with, .and on entering the rooms at the back of the shop, they . found Beaumont lying dead on" a bed with a bullet wound in his head and a pistol lying alongside his right hand. Deceased ' leaves three children, aged eight, six, and five. It is not known whether his wife is alive.
