A MATTER OF EDUCATION
WAITING FOR AUSTRALASIA. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received August 24, 11.50 p.m.) London, August 24. Sir Sandford Fleming, Chancellor of the Queen's University, Canada, interviewed to-day regarding the allBritish cable question, declared that the whole thing was a matter 'of education. The people required to be educated along the lines of a cheaper cable service, and not till then would a cheaper service come. (Received August 25, 12.5 a.m.) Ottawa, August 24. The' Free Press declares that Canada has done all that is possible in the matter of all-British cables, and can do no more until Australia and New Zealand show a disposition to avail themselves of the Imperial route. Sir Sandford Fleming has for many years taken a special interest in the movement, for establishing the Pacific cable and a pan-Britannic telegraph service, having State-owned telegraph communications encircling the globe, and constituting a great Imperial intelligence union.
