THE AUSTRALIAN GAME.
A match was played between A and B teams on Saturday, at Victoria Park. The A team contained eleven of the players selected for the Christehurch trip next month. Some fine play was shown by some of the men, J. Munro, on tho forward line, and Kempton, defending, being by far the best on the ground, and the selectorsi will do well to keep these men in view when selecting the remaining seven players for the representative team. Mr. Hobday umpired well, and is _to be congratulated on stopping kicking in the ruck, a most dangerous practice indulged in by some players. . , Sydney last week was in a state of high carnival, as far as the Australian game was concerned. South Melbourne, Collingwood, and Geelong were all in Sydney. Each of those three clubs has a following of 50 players and friends, and in addition the Queensland Young Australian representatives were also visiting Sydney. The early match between the Queensland and New South Wales Young Australian?, resulted in a win for New South Wales by 103 to 31.
