London, August 18. The Standard, referring to the absence of news of the missing liner Waratah, says that one hopeful view is that it would ; seem impossible for a ship of • her size to go to pieces without a sign of wreckage.
It is thought possible that the Paparoa may sight the Waratah.
The owners of the liner, who are still very hopeful, report that there were about 220 aboard, including 100 passengers, and that the provisions were ample for two months with a full menu.
The captain of the Insiziva has wired to. the.owners that he is now doubtful whether he saw bodies, and that it was too rough to investigate.
A FRUITLESS SEARCH. London, August 17. The cruisers Hermes and Forte have returned to Simonstown (Cape Colony) without discovering any trace of the missing liner Waratah.
