Maxsdon : as local superintendent of technical classes ?, at Thames was also received and 'accepted.", ' ' Hamilton Secondary and Technical Classes :' Tho chairman, in referring to the scheme • for secondary and technical classes at Hamilton, said it was" to be regretted that the r people of that town had not decided to go in for a larger scheme and, say, a 15-acro site. 1 Hamilton was. destined to be an im- •«./' portant educational centre, and the Boprd had done all that was possible in the matter. , Remuera: A deputation from the Re- .". muera Committee, consisting of Messrs. M. A. Clark and B. J. M. Kemp, waited on tho Board in regard to the question of extending the playground at the Remuera school. The present ground consists of two and a-half acres, and it was suggested that an extra half-acre of the adjoining property might lie t... purchased from the Dilworth trustees. Mr. 5 Clark" said that he had spoken to the Minister for Education on the subject, and the latter had signified that he would be willing to provide a grant next year to defray half the cost, if the Board would bear the other half. The chairman was empowered to deal 5 with the subject, and to confer with Mr. Clark on the subject. .. , j"' Superannuation: Mr.. Greenslade drew attention to the fact" that there were several teachers who had riot joined the superannuation fund at the commencement, and who v wished to know whether tliey would be allowed to pay the back money and come in. He understood that one or two had already been admitted on this basis. The chairman, said that whilst the Board was willing, if possible, to assist arty individual cases, the superannuation board, set up under the Act, was supremo ,in the matter, and all applications should bo addressed to that body. Vote of Condolence: On the motion of tho chairman, a vote of condolence was, passed to Mr. Clark, of Symonds-street, in connection with the death of his daughter, who was > < a student at. the Training College. Scholarship Examinations: Correspondence ; was received from Mr. J. W. Tibbs, head--, master of the Grammar School, suggesting an amendment of the regulations framed for the senior continuation scholarship examina-* tions. Miss Whitelaw, headmistress of the Girls' Grammar School, raised the question of whether there should not be two examinationsone for the boys and another for the girls. She thought the girls were handicapped by having to sit for thsg.same examination as the boys. It was decided that the , chief inspector should report on the matter to the chairman, the hitter to bring the ques- • tion up again if necessary. . Presentation: Mr. J.
