ENTERTAINMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The usual densely-crowded auditorium again greeted the clever participants in Mr. J. ('. Williamson's spectacular pantomime, "Jack and Jill," at His Majesty's Theatre last night. As on the previous occasions, those "in front" keenly enjoyed the brilliant, succession of gorgeous scenes and ballets with their kaleidoscopic wealth of colour, while the musical solos and ensembles were listened to with delight. Patrons are reminded of the matinee to-day, when the curtain will rise at 1.4 p.m. The evening performance will take place at the usual hour. OPERA HOUSE. • Fuller's Wide-World Pictures were again shown before a numerous audience last night. The film " Dissolving the Government" was greatly admired. This week's programme, which is very interesting, will be repeated till Friday. . «---—--'■"---"'————— ... ROYAL ALBERT HALL. The weekly change of films is due to-night, at Paths Pictures, and the pictorial fare promised is particularly, inviting. An historical coloured subject, " The Days of Cromwell," is the star picture, and another dramatic, specialty is "The Matinee Idol," whilst the comedy element, as usual, is especially strong. TIVOLI THEATRE. Another large audience greeted the current programme of pictures at the Tivoli Theatre last evening with warm approval. The Huxhams, in their entertainment, were again a success. The programme will be repeated this evening. The Hu.xhams conclude their engagement at the Tivoli on Saturday. '' WEST'S PICTURES. The 'picture-loving public will be pleased to learn that Auckland is to have, another visit from West's Pictures. It is stated that special arrangements have been- made for the reproduction of high-class picture dramas, in which the characters will be portrayed by some of the world's greatest artists. In addition to the dramatic subjects there will be a host of highlydiverting pictures, brimful of humour and rollicking comedy. The season is to be a short one, and will commence on Wednesday, the 25th inst. The usual matinees will be given on Saturday afternoons. TOMMY BURNS. Auckland will have an opportunity of seeing Tommy Burns, who, having now quite recovered from his slight accident, will appear for one night only (Tuesday next) at His Majesty's Theatre. A special programme of sport has been arranged. Burns being pitted against some local champions. . PARNELL FIRE BRIGADE. Last evening, in the Oddfellows' Hall, Parufill, the local fire brigade held a smoke social His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Briggs) presided, and there were about 50 present, including representatives from the various suburban brigades. During the evening occasion was taken to present 'Captain Cowan with a gold utar for 25 years' con-tinuous-fire service and a. writing-desk from the brigadesmen as a mark of esteem. Mr. Briggs made the presentation, and in doing so commented on the fact that the recipient had not missed a practice or fire during his quartercentury's service. A musical programme (to which Messrs. Burke, Milton, Abraham, Leaf, and Fort contributed), interspersed . with the toasts usual on such occasions, served to pass away a very pleasant evening.
