WAGER, Mount Eden.—Carbine started in 43 races and won 33 of his engagements.
SPORTSMAN.—Fifteen horses started for the Auckland Cup in the year (1835) that Nelson first won that race.
G.M., Haw-era.— distance of the Melbourne Cup is two miles. Blue Spec (Bst) and Apologue (7st 91b) each ran the distance in 3m. 27is„ which stands as the record.
WAGER.—'The Auckland-bred horses that have won. the A.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap are—Cravat (by Castor). Maniapoto (by Soult,), and Solution (by Soult.). In the race of 1907. Apologue (Bst 71b) ran Mooltan (6st 131b) to half-a head in 2m 34£b 2. In the Melbourne Cup Apologue carried 7st 91b. and Mooltan 7st. 111b. Apologue won by threequarters of a length.
TOXO., Hamilton.—l. The first descendants sired by Musket in Auckland made their, debut on the New Zealand turf in the season of 1882-83. The total capture of stakes made by them amounted to £140. Prior to Musket being brought to Auckland lie served several seasons at the stud in England. 2. Soult's racing career ended in England. He was foaled in 1890. and is thus 19 years old.
