IDLE NATIVE LANDS.
THE HUNTLY CONFERENCE. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Huntly, Friday. The native conference resumed its sittings at Waahi to-day. The areas dealt with were small, the largest consisting of 560 acres and "the smallest 19, the whole being scat? 1 tered over that tract of country from Tauranga to the Wairoa (Kaipa.ra) district. Altogether some 26 lots were completed and their partition under the various headings agreed* to, the advice of the advisory board being generally accepted. These 26 lots are situated in the Ohinemuri County, Whangamarino Parish, two in the Northern Wairoa, seven at Kawhia, Aotea, and Kaimai, near Tauranga. . Altogether some 3000 acres were completed. Though the acreage is small, the amount of detail and trouble is great in proportion," it being generally easier to deal with a large block than with a small one.
The conference- will sit to-morrow, adjourning at noon till Monday afternoon. It is hoped to conclude the business on Wednesday. - '
