TEN POUNDS OF PICKED STONE: The secretary of the Watchman Gold Mining Company was; advised as follows by telegram from mine manager yesterday: — " Selected 101b of picked stone from eastern face." ______ TALISMAN- p The following cable has been despatched to the London office of the Talisman Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Limited; No. 12 level South, progress 59 feet; width of reef, 42in; values low. No. 13 level: South, driving north on. branch vein, progress 14ft; width of reef, 36in; values low. \ , FORTNIGHTLY REPORT. The report for the fortnight ended June 19 is as follows: — No. 11 Level: No. 10 crosscut —Advanced 10ft; total, 300 ft; no change in ground. No. 8 'Advanced 10ft; total, 817 ft. A seam of quartz, 6in wide, has been intersected near the face; values from the same are very low. The south drive on Welcome reef has been extended 4ft; total, 39ft; width of reef, 42in; values low. The assays from stopes off No. 5 rise average Bs. This stone is now exhausted, and all the broken ore which was lying there (230 tons) has been sent to the mill. No. 12 Level: South drive Advanced 15ft; tot.il, 1514 ft; width of reef, 48in; average of assays, Is 4d. • The east crosscut at 1407 ft south has been advanced sft; total, 72ft- Apparently a better class of country is now being traversed. No. 3 rise (north) has been extended 21ft; total. 50ft; reef, wider than rise; average iof assays, 14s lid. - The assays from the east vein stopes average £4 6s Id; tons sent to mill, 330. The stopes off No. 12 rise have given values that average £3 lis 6d; tons sent to the mill, 484. ... No. 13 Level: The ore that was broken at ■ the time the level became flooded is now being raised, and sent to the mill.
