A YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH.
An inquest was opened by the Coroner (Mr. T. Gresham) at the hospital on Saturday morning, on the body of a young woman named Clara Langston Waldon, who had died at the institution the previous day. Station-Sergeant Treanor appeared on behalf of the police. John Frederick Matthew Waldon, a seaman residing at Aitken Terrace, Glenmore, stated that the deceased was his daughter. She was 19 years of age and unmarried. Four months ago she left her situation as a waitress and shop assistant in Gisborne and came to Auckland,, and she had done nothing since. On Thursday, June 24, she took ill after eating some fruit, and or the following Saturday Dr. Porter was called in.' He attended her for several days and on the 29th ordered her removal so the hospital. Witness* wife did not like the idea-, so called in Dr. Parkes, but lie also ordered her to be removed to th» hospital, and she was taken there on the following day. Sergeant Treanor applied for a remand until Friday next, in order that the police might make inquiries. r The inquest was accordingly adjourned until Friday next.
