COLONIAL DEFENCE.
BEST HELP FOR ENGLAND. (Received March 24, 11.5 p.m.) London, March 24. The Evening News has published a'cablegram from - Sir Joseph Ward explaining why the offer of a Dreadnought was made. The Times suggests that the best use to which the naval co-operation offered by the dominions is applicable, is towards strengthening the defences of each in its own quarter of the world. The Lord May { or of London will preside at a navy, meeting in the Guildhall, on March 31, at which Mr. Balfour and Lords Rosebery, Rothschild, Brassey, and Avebury will be the speakers.
