ROOF COLLAPSES AT P£TONET_ jv'V [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. Through the collapse of a steel roof in Tj^',,'*- course of construction on the new b'dilding at the Gear Company's Petone works a number of workmen were injured •■'to-day. '' Samuel Wilson, among other injuries, sustained a compound fracture of the leg. He was taken to the hospital, but died there. i'he worst cases among the others are H^^ Stanley' Towner, three ribs broken and thigh injured, and Thomas Cross, the wellknown representative footballer, whose side , fed back are injured I -No explanation is given for the collapse Of the roof, but it is suggested ftiat the severe heat yesterday caused the principals R a ''one end to buckle and carry away the I ;,;.;:;: supports. .There were eleven steel princiI ./::,-■ v E*s, each weighing two tons.
