MR. HONE HEKE'S FUNERAL.
[by telegraph.— PßESS association ] Wellington'. Thursday. The funeral obsequies of Mr. Hone Hoke, M.P., commenced at Wellington th.s morning. The remains were accompanied to the Thorndon railway station by a considerable gathering, including members of the Ministry present in Wellington, local members of Parliament, heads of Departments, several officials of Parliament and the Native Department, besides a number of private citizens. In accordance with an old Maori custom, the body will remain until to-morrow at OUiki, where a langi is being held to-day. To-morrow the remains will be taken as far as Wanganui, where another opportunity will be given for the natives to show their respect For deceased. Afterwards the body will be taken on to Kaikohe for interment.
