SWIMMING.

WAITEMATA CLUB'S CARNIVAL. The second carnival of the season, under the auspices of the Waitemata Swimming Club, was hcid at Calliope Dock on Saturday afternoon, in fine weather, and before a large attendance, which included many ladies. The water was very warm, and this helped the contestants considerably, some good times being put up. Tho various events were got oft' well to time, and no hitch occurred to mar tho proceedings. Messrs, J. Jensen, C. Sexton, and H. B. Gormlcy officiated as judges, while tho handicapping and starting was well carried out by Mr. J. J. Mulvihiil. The results follow : — Novice Handicap, 75yds: Hogan, 45., 1; Francis, Is., 2. Time, 54 l-ss. Schoolboys' Handicap (under 14 years), 40yds: E. Bovaird, 45., 1; A. Jessen, 35., 2. Time, 33 l-ss. Ladies' Bracelet, 100 yds: WciL-1 (Miss W. Weston), 1; Matthews, 2. An exciting finish. Time, lm. 13s. Boys' Handicap (under 17), 50'ds: Barchard. 1; W. Jerron, 2. Time, 345. . Christmas Gift Handicap, 40vds: Underwood, 1; Morrett, 2. Time, 345. Kieran Memorial Handicap, 300vds: T. J. Kornott, 145., 1; S. W. Kean. 18s., 2; R. Eades, 205., 3. Time. 4m. 325.
