[by telegraph.—press association.] Christchttrch, Saturday. > The . returning officer of the Southern Maori electorate (Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M.) received the final voting papers, those from the Croixelles, today, and the final comparison "ot the rolls will be ; commenced on Monday. The writ will be returned the same evening.' It is anticipated that whether Mr., Purata, : or Mr. Uru is returned, the unsuccessful candidate will challenge the result. ■«..-'- • ■ The work of comparing the rolls is "a lengthy i process, as the law provides that no Maori whose name appears oh the roll of a Eurpoeah, electorate, and irrespective of whether he voted, or did not .vote, at the election for a member for a European constituency, can vote fo rthe election of a member to represent a Maori constituency.
