NORTH AUCKLAND HOSPITALS

Whangarei, Saturday. At the annual meeting of the North Auckland Hospital, and Charitable Aid Board, held in Whangarei, Mr. J. Vaughan, of Hokianga, was appointed chairman for the ensuing year

• It was resolved to appoint a committee consisting of Messrs. Steadman and Jones, of Whangarei, and a member from the Hokianga and Mangonui Counties respectively, to draw up by-laws for the guidance of the Board. . *•

:: Considerable ; discussion took place on the report funnelled on the work done on the Rawene Hospital, and it was resolved to send a copy of the report to the architect. It was also decided that the installation ot a water supply for the Rawene Hospital be proceeded with, the ladies of the district having, by their efforts, raised the necessary funds. A plan of a new infectious diseases ward for the Whangarei Hospital was forwarded by the architect (Mr. Wiseman). The secretary said the lowest tender was that of John and Sons, £979. There was £850 in hand and that might be augmented by the eale of a cottage in Mairtown, estimated to be worth ±/300. After some discussion the second lowest tender, that of Mr. F. R. Alderton, at £990, was accepted. The matrons of the Majigonui and Rawene Hospitals and all resident nurses were requested to forward quarterly reports to the Board. The matron of the Whangarei Hospital was granted a month's holiday, to commence in January, and was also granted an increase in salary of £10 per annum. ' It was decided that the executive consist of the Whangarei County and borough representatives, with the chairman.
