WELLINGTON'S UNEMPLOYED.
BUILDERS SEEKING WORK.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— CO:
Wellington, Sunday.
Unemployment, according to the secretary of the Building Trades . Labourers' Union (Mr. Browne), is as bad now as in the winter. Buildings are being brought to completion, and there is little new work in hand. More than 100 men left for the country recently, and there are now just as many unemployed in the building trade. Mr. Browne says that there- had been more cases of breaches of the wages clause, and more difficulty in getting wages during last month than throughout the whole of the three previous years. It is understood that there, is corresponding slackness in allied trades, such as carpentery and painting.
