The secretary of the Auckland Cricket Association (Mr. J. H. Watts) received a telegram on Tuesday in reference to the Plunket challenge shield . matches with Otago and Canterbury. It will bo remembered that Otago had challenged first, hut desired new year dates. Canterbury at a later date applied for a match at Christmas time, the Auckland Association and .New Zealand Council agreeing:. Otago protested against Canterbury having prior dates, and the following telegram from Mr. F. "C. Raphael, secretary New Zealand Cricket, Council, is the result of negotiations:—" Otftgo object to follow Canterbury match. To meet wishes of Otago Canterbury ' is willing to forego Christmas week. Otago wish to play December 29, 50. 31 (Tuesday to Thursday)., Canterbury willing to play January 1, 2, 4. Do you concur?" On Monday a combined junior eleven from Auckland visited Papakura Valley, and after an interesting game were defeated by the local eleven by 40 runs, the scorns being as follow:—Auckland Juniors, first innings, 28, Speight (10) being tho principal scorer; second innings, 77 (Sneddon 29, Speight 13). A match was played at Parawai on King's Birthday between the Arawa (Auckland) and Thames teams, and after a Tory close game resulted in a win for Arawa by 11 runs on tho first innings. Tho AUekkinders made 71 runs at, tho first attempt, T. Mikkleson (22), P. Lepino (17), and J. Baker (10) being tho principal scorers.
