Some years "ago' the'Unioo Company- liad 1 a tteamer named the Hawea. She ,was lost- at New Plymouth when manoeuvring to get into the harbour. That' vessel had come out with the Taupo, which was wrecked in Tauranga Harbour. Then the Union Company got another Hawea and another Taupo. , The second Taupo broke away from her moorings, in •Greymouth, and stranded at the river mouth, becoming a wreck. Thus disaster 'has overtaken two Hawea« and two Taupos. ' - I'eilding land agents report that at present them is a good demand for sheep country, inquiries being received from the South Island, Tip the Main Trunk line, and from other places.
