Mr. George George, director of technical education, who has just returned from his trip abroad, was- welcomed back to Auckland by the chairman of the Education Board (Mr. C. J. Parr) at yesterday's meeting. Mr. George said that he was glad to be back in Auckland and to return to his work, which ho said was' also his hobby. He thanked the Board for the extension of leave that ha/1 been granted to him, and said he had no doubt that later on the Board would agree that the extra time had been well spent by him. He had kept in touch with educational matters during the whole time that he had been away, and had paid attention to every type of school, from the kindergarten to the university. Advantage was also taken of the occasion by Mr. Parr to tender the'thanks of the Board to Mr. Par* nell-Smith, the assistant-director. for the very capable. manner in which, he had acted as locum tenons during Mr George's absence.
