THE BUTTER EXPORTS.

A STEADY INCREASE. larger CHEESE OUTPUT. The butter export from Auckland for London for the past fortnight totals 13,336 bores, or 533 tons. The nearest corresponding shipment last year was on November 21, when the s.s. Rimutaka took 11,859 boxes, thus showing an increase for the present fortnight of 1477 boxes. Tho export to South Africa totalis 400 boxes, as against ICO boxes for the corresponding ' period last, year, and 67 boxes are going ! lo the Sonth Sea Islands, as against GO !»xes at this time last season. The total export of butter from Auckland for the fortnight just" closed thus amounts to 13,803 boxes, or 345 tons, an estimated value, on contract rates, of £35,063. It is interesting to note he v.- the seaSon to date compares with last" reason. There was no shipment last season exactly corresponding to the fortnight just closed, but, for the purpose of comparison, a fail' reckoning may be made by taking half the Rimutaka's shipment of November 21 lost year and adding that to previous .shipments. The cheese export alio shows a satisfactory increase. For the past fortnight it totals 416 cases, aa ngain.fit 349 cases for the corresponding period of Just year, while for the season to date 303 cases have been exported, as against 649 for the responding period of 1907.
