. y ' — ■ ! THE RUGBY GAME. WEDNESDAY UNION. The Wednesday Football Union is holding the annual smoke concert in the Federal Hall this evening at, 7.45. A meeting; was held last evening:, when arrangements were completed for the function. A fine programme of vocal and musical items has been arranged and an enjoyable evening is expected. During the evening the championship honours will be presented to the winners (the Butchers' ' senior team) and also tho caps to the members of the winning senior and junior teams. IMPROVING RUGBY. THE AUCKLAND UNION DELEGATES. Messrs. F. J. Ohlson, 0. P. Stichbury, R. 11. Froude, and M. J. Sheahan are en route to Wellington to attend the New Zealand Rugby Union conference, to be held in that city to-morrow for the purpose of considering a number of proposed alterations to the laws of the game. Messrs. Ohlson, Stichbury, and Froude left Auckland on Monday, travelling by the overland route, and Mr. Sheahan was a passenger by the Rarawa from Onehunga. yesterday afternoon. The delegates • will meet at Marton to-day and will go on to /Wellington, where they are due this evening. PAEROA RUGBY UNION. [from our own CORRESPONDENT.] . I'aeroa, Tuesday. A smoke concert was- held by the I'aeroa Rugby Urion cn Saturday night for the purpose of preser'ting the cups won during the past season. Mr. T. -A. Moresby (president of the union) was in the chair, and there was a good attendance. Both cups we'd won by the Suburbs Club, and they were presented by Mr. Moresby to Mr. Thorburn (captain of the senior , team) and Mr. Maro (captain of the junior team). THE NORTHERN UNION GAME.
