' MEYNELL AND GUNN COMPANY. The box plan for "Tho Littlo Breadwinner," to bo. presented on Wednesday night at His Majesty's Theatre by tho new Mey-i-.till and Gurm Company, under tho direction of Mr. Allan Hamilton, opens this morning at Wildman and Arey's. Moderate pric''>3 are being charged, and there is no booking fee. Tho play is highly spoken of, end tho company is said to bo an exceptionally strong one. Miss Beatrice Holloway plays tho load, supported by Messrs. C. 11. Stanford, George Carey, F. Coapc, Mesdames Mabel Russell, /.lico Dcorwyn, Maggie Dickenson, Littlo Quoonio Williams, and others. BLAND HOLT'S COMPANY. . , His Majesty's Theatre was crowded on Saturday evening upon the occasion of the second production of "Tho Groat Rescue," which is considered the best piece tho Bland Holt Company has staged during tho present season. Frequent demonstrations of applause testified the audience's appreciation of Iho many lino situations.and exciting incidents of the play, and tho comedy scones fully merited tho highly complimentary expressions of enjoyment which they -secured. "Tho Groat Rescue" will bo staged again this evening, and to-morrow will closo tho season. '• THE GLIDE AY." Boiler skating is rapidly gaining in favour in Auckland, judging by the increasing attendances at all sessions at. tho rink, where innumerable beginners are to bo seen in their initial attempts under tho capable instructors provided. '. The members of tho Bland Holt Company paid a visit to tho "Glideaway" on Saturday afternoon. On Wednesday night a mile handicap race takes place for a, gold medal. A hockey match on skates is being arranged, and also a fancy dress and impersonating carnival. The rink is open in the morning for ladies only.' _. ;— __ , -i ■SIR. CHARLES SAUNDERS. To-night at tho Choral Hall, Auckland music-lovers will be afforded tho first of tho last two opportunities, for a number of years at least, of hearing tho renowned tenor, Mr. Charles Saunders. The concert given will bo supported by an exceptionally strong company, including Miss Clara. Robson, whoso singing won such favour at tho concerts last month; Mr. G. Van Hock, a new violinist, with a promising future; Mi Horace Hunt, Mus. Bac., who has already made a name for himself as an organist and solo pianist in the Southern centres: and Mr. T. E. Midgley, our own accompanist. The programme is of a varied and unique character, and Mr. Saunders will bo heard in such gems as "In Nativo Worth" ("Creation," Havdn). "I Will Arise and Go to My Father" ("Tho Prodigal Son," Sullivan), "Annabel Lee," "Tho Death of Nelson" (with organ accompaniment), and a remarkable scena for tenor voice, violin, organ, and pianoforte, by Kent Sutton, entitled " Lucifer's Soliloquy," which created something of a .sensation in Wellington and Christchurch by its weird and thrilling intensity. The box plan is now open at Wildman and Arey's. OPERA HOUSE. Thoro was a good attendance at. the Opera House on Saturday night, when the cinematograph views depicting tho Burns-Squires contest, tho Olympic games, and other series were presented for the last time. The pictures will be shown at Hamilton to-night. To-night Messrs. Fuller and Sons will commence a season of "The World-wide Pictures," which were so popular in Auckland a few months ago. The films to bo shown are entirely new, and includo a wide and entertaining variety of subjects. ORGAN RECITAL. At St. Benedict's Church to-morrow evening an organ recital will be given by.Mr. Horaco Hunt, Sins. Bac., of Wellington. A contemporary speaking of a recent recital says "every item, was treated in a masterful manner. Mr. Hunt provided a musical treat, which will bo long remembered by thoso present." Miss Gertrude Hunt and Mr. Arthur Ballance will assist at to-morrow's recital. The full programme appears in the advertising columns. , ;—, — ——< . The annual plain and fancy dress ball held in connection with Professor E. A. Williams' dancing classes took place in the Royal Albert Hall on Friday evening. The hall was tastefully decorated, Morrow's orchestra supplying the music.
