A DARING BURGLAR.
GETS AWAY UNDETECTED. Ax impudent theft occurred at Onelumga last Thursday afternoon, when the resi- . '" dence of Mr. R. Kennedy, engine-driver, of Spring-street, was entered. It appears that the house was locked up for a couple of hours, the occupants all being away, ' and it was during this time that someone who was evidently conversant with the house, effected un entrance. The second .; • room along the passage from the front of the house, occupied by one of Mr. Kennedy's sons, was visited by the intruder, •; a box being broken open and ransacked. In the box was a gold watch and chain, 4 . valued at £25 17s 6d, also a ring and pendant. The watch and chain are missing, but the ring and pendant, which were, inscribed with the owner's name, were left - Y untouched. Sergeant Rogers, of the Onehunga police, " ' waf communicated with, and afterwards the happening .was reported to the detective ■■department. The thief left no traces • behind him—-at least on the surface.
