ENTERTAINMENTS.

KUBELIK. The famous violinist. Kubelik, accompanied by his wife, the Countess Czaky-Czell, is expected to arrive by the Mokoia to-morrow, . and will give two concerts in tho Royal Albert Hall on Monday 'ami Tuesday, evenings next. The other members of the concert party are- also on board, and include Miss Etna Mueller, a mezzo-soprano, withtra first-class London reputation; Miss Emily Dyason, a solo pianist of exceptionally brilliant part?: and Hcrr Ludwig Schwab, who I is regarded as an accompanist of a very high ! order. To have been chosen to assist Kobe- i ; lik in his most dilficult pieces is in itself a. . ! compliment to llerr Schwab's fitness for tho : i position. The tour of Australia, just coneluded, though necessarily very brief, was wonderfully successful, In Melbourne and Sydney it was thought that no violinist was capable of filling the immense town halls in those cities, but Kubelik did so for fix nights, and stirred tip scenes of enthusiasm thtrt were quite remarkable. A notable fact in connection with tho Melbourne concerts was that fully two-thirds of the audiences consisted of men. Ordinarily Indies outnumber the. men at high-class concerts, and tire more easily stirred to excitement, but the reverse was the case in Melbourne. Tbi box plans for the reserved scats at a guinea j and balf-a-guinca are open at Messrs. WildI man and A rev's. There whs something of ! a rush for seats yesterday, but there are still J a number available. Five shilling tickets ! are on sole at lI.M. Cafe. j ! OPERA HOUSE. j Although the Wield World Picture* are i now entering on the fourth and final week \ of their run, the audiences show no sign of i diminution. Last night was no exception ; to tho rule, a good attendance being proj sent. The pictures attained to a high order , of merit, and a specially pleasing feature was the almost total elimination of flicker. As usual, the descriptive and educational films, such as "China,*" "Cossacks on the Don,' and "The Leather Industry," elicited a largo share of public approval. Tho comio element was well represented hi "Wanted, a Maid." "(An Explosive Calf," "The Rival Cyclists," and other pictures of the more uproarious kind. Pathos was present in "Tho Two Brothers." "Will Grandfather Forgive?'' and other films of a like nature, while those who hankered after tragedy had something after their taste in "Engulfed in the Quicksand." Altogether, this is an entertainment that may bo highly commended. A matineo will be given at 2.30 to-day, at which tho management will entertain the inmates of the local orphanages. On that occasion there will be a completo change of programme, which will be in vogue alt next week, the scogon concluding next Saturday. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Fedora" was staged for the last time during tho present, season of the Meynell and Gunn Company at, His Majesty's Theatre last evening. There was again a good audience, and tho popularity of tho production was frequently evidenced by the cordiality of the reception accorded i*.. Toj night the historical drama, "A Beggar on Horseback," will bo presented in Auckland for the first time. AUCKLAND SKATING RINK. The Auckland Skating Rink, Coburgstreet, has received extensive patronage during the week, and the attendances have proved a record, this in some way being due to the cold nights experienced lately. The floor and skates are in excellent order, while the rink is well managed, and no fast skating is allowed, thus materially adding to the enjoyment of the lady skaters. The rink will be open to-day at 2 p.m. and again at. 7.30 p.m. An orchestra is in attendance, and there is ample seating accommodation for spectators. "THE TEA-GIRL." Tho box plan for the Australasian Musical Society's production of "Tho Tea-Girl" will open on Monday morning, at nine a.m., at Wildman and Arey's. The " Tea-Girl" j is being looked forward _to with a good deal I of interest, and no pains or expense have I been spared to present it to tho public in a fitting manner. Tho music is described as j being above tho ordinary. " Tho Tea-Girl " i will bo under tho sole direction of Mr. Scott Colvillc. '
