—— ♦ - HOME GOVERNMENT'S REQUEST"., [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWX CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Friday. ! Tub Minister for Justice (the Hon. J. Mc-' Gowan), when asked to-day regarding the expression of regret recorded by the New Zealand Alliance that he (the Minister) had failed to adequately respond to a request of tiie British Government for information respecting the operation of local option in New Zealand, declined to make any statement. A high official in the Justice Department was approached, and the answer was a denial of the allegation. It was also pointed out that the channel for such a request for information from the Home Government would be through tho Governor and the Prime Minister.
