CONSOLIDATED STATUTES.
4> WORK ALMOST COMPLETED. [by TELEGRAPH.—OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington*, Friday. The Government Printing Department is making good progress with the printing of the Consolidated Statutes. The work of the Commission (t.he Chief Justice, Dr. Fitchett, and Mr. W. S. P.eid) having charge of the consolidation has been proceeding for the last five years, and is now practically completed. Fifty volumes of statutes have been condensed into five, and each of the five volumes will contain about 900 pages. As- a largo demand is expected, some 2500 copies of each are being produced. Tho work is one of very considerable magnitude. It is probable that an extra volume, consisting of a comprehensive index, will later on be printed, but in the meantime each volume will bo complete, with a separate index. Each consolidated Act will be printed separately, and will be available in this form. In the volumes the statutes will be arranged alphabetically. A complete set of volumes of New Zealand statutes costs £50, but the five volumes of revised and consolidated measures will bo available at considerably less than £20. The volumes, in Bill form, will be ready for issue to the House early in the session.
