ALLEGED BURGLARY.
AN EARLY MORNING ARREST. Two men were arrested by Constable Murdoch in Victoria-street West about 1.15 this morning, on a charge of breaking and entering and stealing a quantity of meat from the shop of Mr. E. J. Swann, at the corner of Victoria and Federal Street". The constable on going his rounds detected the two men in the act of leaving the shop by the front door. Each had a bag, winch on examination was found to contain meat. The men, on being chal- I lenged, failed to give a satisfactory reason I for their presence in the shop, and they were arrested and taken to the lockup. lb is stated that they entered the shop by the back door, and opened tiie front door by removing a bar. It is further alleged that on one of the men was found certain articles said to have been taken from another place. The men will appear before the Court this morning.
