. Wellington*. Wednesday. REI'RESKNTATrvKS of the local no-license councils in each electorate in' the Dominion met in Wellington this morning. Mr. A. S. Adams-, president of (he New Zealand Alliance, who occupied the chair, welcomed the delegates, and congratulated them on the position of the no-license cause. The alliance, he said, was formed 22 years ago by the late Sir Win. Fox, who at great, personal expense and expenditure of energy ■ delivered addresses in various towns and cities. 'due annual report was adopted. _ A report on " How Goes the Fight?" was given by representatives from various provinceV, Auckland being represented by Mr. R. French, Taranaki by the Rev. J. Guy, Wellington by Mr. W. J. Williams, Canterbury by the Rev. S. Lawvy, Nelson bv the Rev. S. Jen kin, and Otago by Mr.'McSkimming. Miss- Roberts also spoke on behalf of CJuistchuivli. ADDRESS BY MRS. HARRISON LEE. Yesterday afternoon, at, the Baptist Tabernacle, Mrs. Harrison Lee. the well-known temperance advocate, who has recently come over from Australia under engagement to the New Zealand Alliance, delivered an addross to a large congregation, principally • ladies. The Rev. ICnowles Kempton, minister of the Tabernacle, presided, and also on I the platform were Mrs. Dewar (president i Auckland branch of the Women's ChrisI tian Temperance Union, under the. auspices of which body, the address was given), and the Rev. Murray, incumbent of St. Andrew's Church. Mrs. Lee-.kept her hearers interested fur over an hour, interlarding her advocacy of the no-license movement by bright little anecdotes and the drawing of analogies, her remarks being punctuated with frequent applause. The lecturer concluded with an eloquent - appeal to her hearers to use their vote in the no-license interest. On the conclusion of the proceedings, votes of thanks were passed to Mrs. Lee for her able and interesting address, and also to tho Rev, Knowles Kempton for presiding.
