OPERA HOUSE.

This popular place of entertainment was well filled last night, when a fine selection of living pictures was exhibited. "Cossacks of the Don," the first film of the series, is one of the best, and shows some 'fiiie views of tho . drilling and equestrian ■evolutions of these soldiers of the Tsar. "The Leather Industry," as its name denotes, is a series showing the various processes through which a hide passes before it emerges as marketable leather. Some beautiful -seascapes and an interesting panoramic view of New York are contained in the film entitled ''A Trip Across the Atlantic." and " China " is noticeable for several exquisite views of that peculiar country. Comic studies are not so plentiful as usual, but, those presented are, generally speaking, of a high order of merit. These comprise: "Wanted, a. Maid," showing the difficulties encountered -by a. young married couple, who are seeking a. domestic; "The Statue of San Roeco," another very laughable film ; "Rival Cyclists;" and "An Explosive Calf." "The Magic. Garden" is a picture of the fantasy order, with some beautiful colour effects, and dramatic studies are well represented in "The Two Brothers," "The Counterfeiters," -'Will Grandfather Forgive?" and a particularly realistic and gruesome series entitled. " Engulfed in " the Quicksand." MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS. A social gathering was held by the Fountain of Friendship Lodge, Manchester Unity, in the lodgeroom, Lome-street, last I evening.
