LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.

NEW AREAS OPENED.

Several important areas will be thrown open for settlement by the Lands Department this month. These include first and second class land in the West Taiipo and the Waitemata and Kawhia Counties respectively, and are for selection on the optional system. The total area is 1272 acres, and applications will be received up to June 14, the ballot being fixed for the 25th inst.

The best of the land is situated in the Puniu survey district. West Tanpo, and comprises sections 2 and 3, Block V., of 191 . and 165 acres respectively, the cash price for which is £265 and £230. In the same distinct sections Lv and 3, Block VI., of. a, total area of 266 acres, are offered, the price being £415.

Section 168, in Waitemata County, Waipareba Parish, 50 acres, £25, and section 6, block XVI., Kawhia North, 600 acres, £810, are also scheduled, boll) these areas being second-class lands.

Kivd pastoral .runs, comprising 124,874 acres, in the vicinity of Lake Taupo, will be offered by public auction for a term of *21 years, from -Match next, on Friday, June 26. The inns vary in area, from 11,595 acres to 54,744 acres. All. hot springs, fumaroles, ngawas, geysers, mud volcanoes, and other centres of thermal action, with right, of way thereto, are specially excluded from these pastoral licenses.
